A few of us here in the Kansas Flint Hills enjoy re-creating the past. Some of us dress in everyday prairie clothing to participate in the Flint Hills FolkLife Festival, held on the 2nd weekend in June on the lawn of the historic Chase County CourtHouse. Some of us dress for Civil War re-enactment. Some of us enjoy Western black powder shooting or Mountain Man encampments. But most of us who do these things ALSO enjoy Victorian Dance - the clothing, the music and the Grand Balls. We hope that you’ll be intrigued enough to want to join us.
We encourage the period dress (circa l861-1873). We provide LIVE MUSIC for the Balls, and a LIVE DANCE MASTER. The cost has been kept to $8.00 for Adults; half that for Youth; and Children under 12 are admitted Free. Refreshments are available at the dances by contribution.
